I’m in a hot chocolate mood this week. It’s been cold and dreary and nothing warms me up like a cup of hot chocolate.
I’m not a coffee or tea drinker so I get my fix with a cup of the chocolaty hot stuff. And to make it even better, I’ve made some chocolate covered spoons to add a little pizzazz to it.
These would make great gifts for the holidays and are simple enough for little wee ones to help out. You can personalize them if you use the wooden spoons or if you want to get real fancy, buy some “real” spoons and dip away.
Just melt the candy coating according to directions. Dip your spoons into the chocolate, set on a nonstick surface (nonstick mat, parchment or wax paper), decorate with accents while chocolate is still “wet”, then let set. For the drizzled look, wait for the chocolate covered spoon to dry, then drizzle the opposite color on with a different spoon. When they are all complete, store in an airtight container or package up with bags and ribbons.
Simple, inexpensive, and personal.
Side note – I’ve been using Candiquik candy coating for almost a year now and LOVE this product. It is so simple to melt and reheat if necessary and has a great taste. It can be found in the baking aisle near the chocolate chips. If you are looking for some really super cute ideas of how to use chocolate, visit their blog. So, so, so many cute and mouth watering ideas.
In the true holiday giving spirit, I have a special treat for you today. I’ve teamed up with Candiquik to offer one person a very warm Holiday Gift Kit. Everything you need to make chocolate spoons to be used in your favorite cup of hot chocolate or coffee or tea.
Candiquik has put this AWESOME gift kit together. There is vanilla and chocolate candy coating, “real” spoons, fun decorating accents, gourmet hot chocolate mix, a pair of mugs, festive napkins, packaging, ribbon, and gift tags, and my favorite item in this kit is the Candiquik 2014 calendar. You will LOVE it! It has 12 different recipes, one for each month, plus many other chocolaty good treats are shown.
