Do you ever hear something; see something; smell something; read something that takes you back in time? Oh how this recipe takes me back about 20 years. It brings back memories of when my hubby and I were just newlyweds living in Germany. (Gosh that makes me sound/feel really old.) We lived there for 3 years and had some of the best food, beer and wine we’ve ever experienced.
I was going through one of my German cookbooks last week. It’s German food but thankfully the cookbook is written in English. Had it been written in German, I’m not sure what I would be sharing with you today since “mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut“. Man how I wish Google Translator was available back then.

Do you ever watch HGTV? I can sit and watch it for hours if I have nothing better to do. A few weeks ago, on a lazy Sunday, HGTV had their special on of the making of the 2012 Dream Home located in Utah. They do this (I think) every year. Build a dream home and give it away to one lucky winner who probably can’t afford the upkeep or taxes on it. But the bright side is that you can take a cash payout and run instead of the responsibility of a beautiful new home with a dream kitchen and spectacular view.

Now if I won this home, I would almost have to “test” drive it first. I know we can’t afford the taxes and upkeep on this place but man, its located right smack dab in the middle of some good skiing country and just look at that kitchen. Think of all of the “good food” I could make in there! Maybe its not the perfect “year round home” for us but it would be the perfect vacation home. Trouble is we can’t afford a vacation home like that. But a girl can dream, can’t she?

There are lots of geniuses in this world. People that are so super smart and/or invented a very useful/popular product; it just blows my mind at times. Take for instance, Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. He’s your typical super smart genius. He knows absolutely everything about science and Star Trek you would ever care to know. He lacks many other skills but that is beside the point. He’s a genius!
Then there is the creator of the onesie extender. They were only the most valuable baby item I used for my long torso kids when they were little ones. It extended the life of a onesie by a good 2 months and the length by a good 2 inches. Do you know how much money that saved us? Genius!

Today is one of those rare days where I don’t have a lot to say. I know, it doesn’t happen very often and sometimes in our house, I’m sure my hubby would say it doesn’t happen often enough. I normally have lots to say. Whether it makes sense or not, that is beside the point. But today, I’ve got nothing.
