Yesterday I highlighted all of the cool celebrities I saw and told you all about their presentations at the Housewares Show in Chicago this past weekend. Today, I’m going to tell you about the companies and products. This can be just as cool depending on who you are. Warning – it’s a long one as well so grab that cup of coffee, glass of wine or a cold beer and enjoy!
The Housewares Show is where companies come to display their products and introduce new ones. Buyers, retailers and media from all over the world come to these booths to pick out what will be on their shelves this next year. A consistent theme that I saw throughout the booths was eco-friendly products, color, as well as water bottles and travel coffee mugs. I tell you, if I was a buyer and was told to pick the best water bottle or travel coffee mug that was out there to put in a store – I would have had thousands – yes thousands of choices. I didn’t take any photos of them because I would have had a hard time picking just one to showcase. And if the products were made in the USA, it was one of the first things the sales people pointed out to you or it was proudly displayed in their booths. Go USA!
I’m starting out with every chef/baker’s dream. A kitchen full of KitchenAid products. I had no idea KitchenAid mixers came in so many colors. These photos do not do the display justice. My favorite is the Candy Apple Red in the bottom left photo on the bottom row. She’s so pretty! I have the basic black version that I’m truly happy with but oh, if a candy apple red mixer would just happen to come into my kitchen, my black one would be gone faster than you can say KitchenAid.
Since I already have a mixer, I was drawn more to the Food Processors. See this one below. She’s new and I want her sitting in my kitchen come salsa making time. I don’t have a food processor and so many recipes call for one to make your life easier. Well, I’m ready for the easy. This version is brand spankin’ new. It’s a 13-cup capacity with a smaller 9-cup (I think) insert. Can you see the lever under the clear container? That lever will move your blade up and down to change the blade height all by itself without having to change blades. Cool, huh! And, it has a Pulse, High and Low setting. I was told that was what the people wanted and so that is what the people got. Now that I’ve wiped the drool off of my face – we’ll move on.
