Fast and Easy Pizza Burgers with Ragú
This week I’m working with Ragú to bring you a slightly different version of one of their traditional recipes. Last week I shared my own spin on their Fettuccine Carbonara and today is their Easy Awesome Meat Sauce for my own New Tra-Dish.
Did anyone else have pizza burgers growing up? My mom would make them every now and then and I remember the lunch ladies making some pretty darn good ones too. We have these about once every month or two in our house. It’s one of those recipes I turn to when I have leftover (or stale) buns in the house and less than 30 minutes to make dinner.
When Ragú asked me to put a twist on one of their traditional recipes, my mind went immediately to the pizza burger. I used their Ragú Old World Style Traditional Sauce which is made with 11 juicy tomatoes, making it its richest, thickest recipe.
This is seriously easy. Just brown your hamburger or Italian sausage, using whichever meat you like best. Drain the fat off and add a jar of Ragú Old World Style Traditional Sauce. I then added 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning to give it more of a “pizza” taste. This is where you could add many other items if you want like onions, chopped peppers, or mushrooms. My family is pretty plain so I just used the meat and sauce.
While the meat sauce is being prepped, toast your buns long enough so they are warm and firm, about 5 – 8 minutes. This time around I used herbed ciabatta buns and loved the taste of it but normally I’ll use up the hamburger buns that are starting to go stale.
Next, assemble the burgers. Put a spoonful of meat sauce on each toasted bun and then top with your favorite cheese. I like using the pizza cheese variety but any kind will do as long as you like it.
Place them back in the oven for about 8 – 10 minutes to let the cheese melt and you have dinner in about 25 minutes.
Love, love, love a quick easy meal. Seriously quick and easy.

So go ahead, enter, and come back here and tell me which prize you have your eye on. I want to know who my competition may be. 🙂
I was happy to partner with Ragú and Yummly on this recipe. I was compensated for my idea, but all opinions are 100% my own.
