Nutter Butter Snowmen for a January Thaw Day

4 snowmen

Snowmen.  Who doesn’t love to build a snowman?  Even at the age of – well, let’s just say – that even at MY age, I still enjoy building a snowman but the conditions have to be just right.

You know, a nice heavy snow.  About 28 degrees with no wind and some hot chocolate waiting for you inside.

So when the conditions aren’t perfect or you’ve experienced a January thaw like we did, you have to compromise when you want some snow fun.

When that happens, just head to the kitchen and make these Nutter Butter snowmen.  I’ve seen them all over the internet this winter and they were fun to make.

My 8 year old helped me decorate them.  Do you like her Katy Perry snowman?

Or my French dude?

Or the fun, funky hat snowman?

How about the one that can’t talk because his mama bundled him up too much?

Can't talk

With some “No School” days coming up, these would be a fun project for the kiddos to make.  It’ll keep them occupied for close to an hour and you also have a built in snack.

Nutter Butter Snowmen

Yield: 25 cookies

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

• 25 Nutter Butter cookies
• 1 pound of white candy coating – I’ve been using Candiquick lately and love the taste and ease of this brand. Can be found in the baking aisle near the chocolate chips.
• Black pearls – for eyes and mouth
• Orange sunflower seeds or tic tacks – for nose
• Black Edible Pen – to draw on mouth (optional)
• Licorice of various colors
• Sparkle Gel – various colors for hats or other accessories
• M&Ms – for ear muffs

Directions:

1. Melt your candy coating according to package directions.
2. Dip cookies in candy coating and tap off excess. Place on a nonstick mat or parchment paper.
3. While candy coating is still wet, place in eyes, nose and mouth (optional if you use the black pearls for mouth).
4. Let the cookies set for about 20 minutes.
5. Cut licorice in half with a scissors. Tie around the snowman’s neck for a scarf.
6. Draw on the mouth with the Edible Pen once the candy coating has set completely.
