It’s 2013 and I’m back! I took a little vaca from the blog over the holiday and I’m rested and back to share some more yummy recipes with you in 2013.
As I was reading a bunch of other blogs these past couple of weeks, they all were sharing what they want to do with their sites and the type of recipes they were going to share in 2013. You know, they set GOALS!
That got me to thinking. What do I want to do?
Actually, I said to myself “Crap, should I be setting some goals here?”
I don’t know about you, but if I set too many goals for myself, I get overwhelmed and am certain to fail at attaining over 50% of them and then I feel like a failure even though I did attain the other 50%.
So I decided to set one blog goal for 2013 and that is this –
Post and share when you have time.
I think this takes the pressure off of me to post at least once or twice a week. Looking at our family, school, sports, and work schedules for the next 6 months (yes, I’m looking 6 months out right now) I know there will be weeks where no post is even imaginable but there are also a few weeks where maybe even more than one post is surely to pop up.
We all need less stress in our lives and if I can trick my mind into this flexible schedule, there will certainly be less stress for me. And part of this goal is also to share recipes that hopefully will help ease the stress in your lives.
Less stress = fewer wrinkles and gray hairs – Right? Or is that just part of growing older?
This recipe in particular is one of those stress free foods.
I LOVE cookies but they do take time to make. So when I saw this recipe on the back of a Betty Crocker cookie mix, I decided to make them into bars instead of cookies.
We took these Monster Bars camping with us last summer and the kids (and adults) LOVED them. It feeds a crowd or if you don’t need all of them at one time, just store the unneeded bars in the freezer and pull them out when you do need them.
Here’s to a stress-free, fewer wrinkles and gray hairs 2013!!!
Yield: 35 - 48 bars
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 - 25 minutes
Total Time: 30 - 35 minutes
This recipe feeds a crowd or if you don’t need all of them at one time, just store the unneeded bars in the freezer and pull them out when you do need them.
1 pouch (1 lb. 15 oz.) Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookie mix
1 pouch (1 lb. 15 oz.) Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix
1 ½ cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups M&Ms
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, stir butter, cookie mixes, oats and eggs until well mixed and soft dough forms. Stir in M&Ms.
2. Grease a jelly roll pan (13” x 18” pan). Spread cookie dough evenly throughout pan.
3. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into desired serving sized bars. Store in an airtight container.
