Scarecrow Cookies and Some Lame Excuses…

First up – lame excuses as to why I haven’t been blogging as much as I normally did before summer started.  Here they go in no particular order –

  • Summer started.
  • First summer with our boat and we enjoyed it tremendously.
  • Baseball.
  • Softball.
  • Salsa making and lots of it.
  • Volleyball.
  • Football.  Although the season for us is cut short since my son broke his finger, had surgery and is recovering.
  • Summer ended and school started.
  • 3 kids.
  • 1 husband.
  • Dirty dishes.
  • Laundry.
  • Started a job that I love with Coulee Parenting Connection in July.

So yes – these are lame excuses but I know I can’t do it all.  My new job wasn’t in my plans for the summer but I am so glad it’s in my life right now.  I love what I do and this blog and my Sugar Buzz Pantry business helped me prepare for it.  But now, my family and work come before my blog.  I do miss it though.

Since News 8 This Morning still invites me back month-after-month (and I love it!) I will always have a sweet treat post at least once a month and hopefully a few more as I get adjusted to my new “working” life.  Be on the lookout for a few giveaways too in the next couple of months – you don’t want to miss them.

Onto today’s fun project – Scarecrow Cookies.

I’ve seen many different versions of these cookies but this is how I made them.

Start with cookies – any kind about 2 ½ – 3” in diameter.

Frost them.

Next you need a full crème filled wafer and another cut about 2/3 of the way.  Lucky you gets to each the other 1/3 leftover.  If you want to make your hat a different color – Color Mist works real well on them if it’s a darker color.  Put them on the frosting.

Add the straw.  I used Toasted Coconut but you can also use shredded wheat.

Then add a face.  I had candy eyes so I used them but you can also use mini-chocolate chips.  For the nose, a cute little heart or daisy accent works well.  For the mouth, I used black pearls but again, mini-chocolate chips would work too.

And now you have some cute scarecrow cookies – not lame at all!

First of all, whoa! “Marketing & Promotions Manager”! (I went to the link you provided and creeped around and found you. Nice picture, by the way!) Congratulations! You deserve it. You have worked and worked for this – I don’t know anyone that has carved themselves out a future with as much diligence and effort. Good for you! Second, I hope you don’t burn yourself out! That’s a whole lot going on, sista! And finally, congrats on the boat! (Oh, wait, P.S. Hope your son’s finger heals quickly!)
