Sorry – but no new recipe today. I’m at the beginning of a two week cooking/baking marathon so once that is done, I should have plenty of recipes to share with you.
For the next two weeks I have nothing but food on the brain. It all starts with this Saturday’s Prom. My daughter and some of her friends are having dinner at our house before the big dance so I’m cooking to impress 10 teenagers. Probably not too hard to do but nonetheless, I want this to be a special night for them. One of the menu entrees is the Chicken and Mushroom Tortellini. Easy enough!
Then on Sunday we turn around and host about 25 family members for my youngest daughter’s First Communion. She’s so excited. She said she looks at least 10 in her new “high heeled” shoes. The girl is 7 and still looks 7 with the shoes on but if it makes her feel good, I’ll let her think she looks at least 10 for the day.
So that’s this weekend. Then the following Friday, Lord help me. A friend of mine asked if we could do a little bartering. I make some fancy smancy desserts for her Grand Opening, she gives me some family photos. Awesome deal except – I’m super duper nervous. I have hundreds of cake balls and various mousse cups to make and then there is the ultimate chocolate chip cookie she would like. I don’t want to disappoint so this week’s project is to find an awesome chocolate chip cookie recipe that is soft and chewy. I have 3 recipes I’m dying to try. I’ll let you know the winner once I find it.
If you don’t hear from me in a few days, please come looking for me. I will more than likely be buried under a large load of dirty dishes, covered in flour and in a chocolate chip cookie coma.

Good luck with it all and good luck to your girls on their events! Can’t wait to hear all about it. 🙂
I’ve tried a few different CC cookie recipes in search of the best as well, and I stumbled upon it a few months back inside the Land-o-Lakes butter package. It is seriously amazing’ a bit crispy on the edges but super chewy on the inside. I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my CC cookies! It’s a large recipe too which is nice if you’re baking for a crowd :o)
Your prom night was a huge success!!! Sadie said she would have stayed at your house all night to eat. She had a great time and thanks again for hosting the kids. Especially with all you had to so this last week.
We loved having them here. They are such a polite group that can eat! They left us no leftovers – darn kids! I’d do it all over again though.
I read these comments, and tried the Land o Lakes recipe yesterday. Yum! I usually use the toll house recipe, but my family liked this one better- probably because it has more sugar and butter in it! This one added baking powder as well.
