A very easy, useful recipe – Pan Goop
This is going to be a short post today because there’s nothing good tasting or pretty about this recipe. Yeah, I know. I said I’d be sharing the GOOD food with you but hang in there with me. This recipe does not taste good BUT it makes your life so much easier in the kitchen and I’m all for easy. Plus, I’ll be referring back to it A LOT and wanted you to be in the loop.
Who would have thought that flour, vegetable oil and shortening could make a girl so happy? Well, when I mix equal parts of these 3 ingredients, it makes me a happy girl when clean up comes around. I’m talking about Pan Goop. Such a high tech name don’t ya think? I’ll get to the point – these 3 ingredients mixed together make a miracle goop that once applied to your pan will release your food easily and make cleaning up a breeze. Really, it does! Just apply with a pastry brush in any place you would normally grease and flour your pan or use an aerosol spray. I don’t only use it for baking. I also apply it to my pans/dishes when I know the clean-up will be a pain.
So go ahead, make up a batch and store in an airtight container in your cupboard or pantry. Try a small batch at first and see how long it takes you to go through it. Next time adjust to either more or less. See, I told you it was easy! And come back tomorrow – I’ll make up for this not so great tasting post with a mouth watering cheesecake recipe.
Make up a batch and store in an air tight container in your cupboard or pantry. Try a small batch at first and see how long it takes you to go through it. Next time adjust to either more or less.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Shortening – I prefer Crisco but you can also use butter. If you use butter it will have a shorter shelf life.
Mix equal parts together with an electric mixer until smooth. Place in an airtight container. Apply with a pastry brush to pans/dishes that you would normally grease and flour or use an aerosol spray on to pretreat your pans.
